Thanking and celebrating 75 years of the NHS

Although the NHS has undergone some of the most radical changes in the past generation, 2023 sees the 75th anniversary of the NHS, which is a cause to be celebrated.

While the landscape changes, some things remain constant – the care, dedication and commitment shown by the people working across NHS Scotland and its partners.

From porters and carers to surgeons and district nurses, our healthcare staff uphold the principles of an NHS which mean so much to many. If ever there was a time to celebrate the NHS and the achievements of the unsung heroes working in health and social care, it’s now.

The Scottish Health Awards are the most prestigious and recognised awards run by the Daily Record in partnership with NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government. At the heart of our awards is the determination to recognise the people who symbolise everything that is great about NHS Scotland and the high quality health and social care services they deliver to the people of Scotland.

Please take the time to nominate someone you believe deserves to be recognised across the sixteen award categories for this year.

This year’s People’s Choice Award specifically recognises those amazing people who have dedicated much of their working life and have made – and continue to make a significant contribution to our NHS. The People's Choice Award will be put to a public vote after nominations close on 13 August and when our judging panel have selected the most inspiring nominations, you'll be able to vote for your winner in this category.

Finalists in the other categories will be announced w/c 25 September and all winners – including the winner of the People's Choice Award – will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony on 2 November.
